please forgive my belated full moon post! this full moon is on my own natal moon and this venus retrograde has been on sensitive points in my chart- so i have been IN IT and at one point actually had to surrender into it and let go of getting this post written on time and keeping up with email and work demands, which as a person with perfectionist tendencies this was really hard for me to do. i am feeling in a much better space today and from this place i know i will write a much clearer full moon post. so thank you for your patience and understanding (especially to my paying members!). and if you have emailed me in the past week (or honestly in the past month) i will get back to you soon! please forgive me and know it’s not personal. thank you :)
the full moon in pisces is exact on saturday august 29th 2015 at 11:35am PDT, marking the midway point of the lunar cycle we are in that began with the new moon in leo on august 14th. that new moon was conjunct retrograde venus- with the exact sun/venus conjunction occurring the very next day. the midpoint of any retrograde journey is when said planet goes into the heart of the sun. with venus, the lower heart, in the heart of the sun- this lunar cycle has been all about shining a Bright, Brilliant Light on what is not working in our love lives, finances, self-worth, self-Love and values so that we can get super clear on what needs to shift and change within and without.
this full moon in pisces is quite potent and it brings what was seeded at the new moon into a place of fruition, climax, crisis or culmination. this full moon is a super full moon- meaning the moon is closer to earth and as such will appear larger and the tides will be much lower and higher than usual. this is symbolic of the Unconscious and emotional energy being more magnified right now- and if you find yourself deeply in it as many people i know are including myself- know that there is a cosmic reason for all of this. on the Highest level having all your Unconscious, deep emotions, pain and shadow magnified brings you in direct confrontation with all that needs to be seen for what it is, fully felt and moved through before it can be released and/or healed. yet the shadow of this full moon is that we can feel like we have been thrown into the depths of the abyss with no life vest and no orientation- and if we do not have good support and grounded practices in our lives to help us navigate this emotional terrain you may find yourself or others around you defaulting to the shadow side of pisces which is addiction, denial, victimization and deception.
this full moon is magnificently aspected. the full moon is conjunct neptune, the contemporary ruler of pisces, and opposite the sun conjunct jupiter, the ancient ruler of pisces. both ruling planets of the full moon are involved in an oppositional dynamic- with saturn in the last degrees of scorpio in a wide square to all four of them. over the next 3 1/2 months saturn will make his way through the last degrees of scorpio and he will enter into sagittarius and he will trigger the full moon degree on november 18th. so what is coming to a point of crisis, culmination or reality check right now is likely to not be fully complete until after saturn triggers the full moon degrees in late november.
with neptune on the full moon there is certainly a mystical, spiritual quality to the lunation- and spending time deep in meditation, reflection and introspection is highly recommended. yet i do not want to mislead you and only tell you about the positive qualities of the full moon- as some of the posts i have been seeing about the full moon in pisces have been speaking to. neptune is the great dissolver- and on a full moon he can make you feel like you are washed out to see. desires to check out and escape may seem innocent and like you deserve it- but the sun and jupiter in virgo are reminding you to stay in your body, stay present to your pain and be discerning of what is presenting itself in your reality. full moon conjunct neptune could have us wanting to play the victim or the martyr or turn to addictions to numb ourselves from the pain that is surfacing from our personal as well as collective Unconscious. yet doing this would be a disservice to the potent opportunities for transformation and evolution that are being gifted to us right now.
with neptune on the lunation we may also find ourselves wanting to wear rose colored glasses so that we see ourselves and/or others only in the most positive Light. yet jupiter in virgo brings gifts of discernment, discrimination and awareness of what is lacking. we can overdo this and get super critical of ourselves and others or we could tap into these gifts in grounded ways that help us to see reality for what it is without judging it.
the virgo/pisces axis is an axis of service- both signs love to help, heal and in some cases save others or the world around them. and yet the first thing we have to do is help, heal and save ourselves. like in the airplane when you must put your own air mask on first- before we can truly Love others or help and heal others we have to Love, help and heal ourselves. my priestess teacher has talked to me about the the High Priestess card in the tarot deck and how she sits between two pillars- one black and one white. the black pillar is the pillar of severity (virgo) and the white pillar is the pillar of mercy (pisces). the journey is to become a bridge between the two as they hold the duality of life together- but when we default to either of them in excessive ways we are not coming from an empowered place.
this full moon is a reminder to find balance between compassion, forgiveness and Unconditional Love (pisces) and discernment of reality, setting appropriate boundaries and holding the self and others accountable. too much pisces and we are codependent, enabling, addictive and living from a bleeding open heart with no boundaries. too much virgo and we are judgmental, critical, perfectionist and coming from the head and divorced from our hearts.
a few other notable aspects in the full moon chart include the potent mercury/north node/mean black moon lilith conjunction in the first degrees of libra. the north node is the node of destiny and evolution and it’s not the place we typically willingly go towards (unless we have done a shitload of inner work). the north node in our natal chart and by transit is that place where we are pushed out of the nest and we figure out how to fly falling down, while the south node points to where we are comfortable but stuck and we keep playing out karmic patterns from the past. with the north node conjunct mercury- important insights, information, communication and connections are incoming right now and they have major potential to help us grow and evolve in life. with black moon lilith also involved there is deep magic afoot and the capacity to step into our power in heart-centered, deeply Loving ways is available to us right now.
yet the biggest thing about the north node/mercury/black moon lilith conjunction is the fact that is on the super galactic center. i talked about this in this week’s astrology forecast (so read that for more info). many people know of the galactic center- which is the center of our milky way galaxy. the GC (galactic center) is a major point of evolutionary energy and can be seen as the umbilical cord that connects us back to the womb of the Great Mother. well the SGC (super galactic center) is the center of millions and billions and trillions of galaxies. if you thought the GC was potent- the SGC is a trillion times more potent. it’s a portal directly back to Source. and with the north node, mercury and black moon lilith transiting over it- we all have the potential to access something life altering and profound that can dramatically change the course of our lives. of course this lies in seed potential- so if you don’t choose to do your inner work and healing then the cosmic window will be missed and you will be looking around going ‘nothing happened’. but if you utilize this potent energy during this window of time you will feel it and it will unfold for you in the whatever way, shape or form is for your Highest good.
one other aspect to take note of is the venus/mars conjunction that is approaching exactness (and will be exact on 8/31). venus is retrograde and she and mars align at the same degree of her direct station (venus cojoins mars at 14’55 leo and venus will station direct on 9/6 at 14’23 leo). mars is an activator and his alignment with venus during her underworld journey can be the seeding point for deep changes, shifts, healings and letting go of that which holds us back from living more in alignment with Love. venus conjunct mars can be romantic and fertile- and yes this could potentially manifest externally. but i have to say during all the work i have been doing on my self during this venus retrograde journey- the most profound romance one can ever have is the Sacred Union within. and if we don’t do that work we will always be looking outside and chasing other people trying to get them to fill the holes inside that only we can truly fill and heal. used internally, venus retrograde conjunct mars can plant a seed and set a foundation for the deepest, greatest Love Story of all- the Love that is Sourced from within (which will positively impact all your relationships going forward- both present ones and future ones that have yet to come in).
i highly recommend you use this super full moon in pisces to check in, instead of check out. to deepen Self-Love rather than looking to find it externally. to live from an open heart with clear, defined boundaries. to remember that ‘wisdom tells me i am nothing, Love tells me i am everything- and in between the two my life flows.’ ~swami nisargadatta
