as most of you know- if you come to my site much- i don’t do a lot of celeb/pop culture astrology posts. i am just not into it- so it’s not my thing. but occasionally a big news item will drop about a high profile couple splitting (like my post about gwyneth paltrow) or a celeb having a major crisis (like the actor who has AIDS) and my spidey senses feel big things happening in the astrology and i want to figure out what it is.
once upon a time when i thought i was going to get my PsyD i wanted to specialize in relationship counseling. i find relationships so fascinating and the ways we grow, challenge and unearth/recapitulate old wounds from childhood or past lives in relationship can totally be seen in the chart. and that is definitely the case for brad and angelina.
so i have to say- i don’t know a lot about them or their history. i do know the news about how they met when he was still married to someone else (jennifer aniston) and how he essentially got divorced and went straight to angelina. i am a big believer that how you start something is how it will finish. if you started something new with someone with lies, deception or hiding things- that is how it will end. and so this seems to have panned out for brad and angelina. just to be clear- this is not about judgement. it’s just about understanding the laws of karma, cause and effect. how you go into it you will go out of it. it’s really important actually to bring a lot of consciousness, awareness and intention into your beginnings and endings- as the rest of the story can be told simply by being aware of those two important points in time.
so i did the charts of brad and angelina and found some interesting things i wanted to share here- in the spirit of learning astrology, learning about relationships and learning how to make the Highest choices possible in our own endings and beginnings.
so let’s start with angelina’s chart. she has venus on the ascendant square uranus and chiron- an aspect i know well as i have it in my own chart. venus/uranus needs space and freedom and does not like being suffocated, owned or controlled in relationship. yet angelina’s venus is in cancer- which is a sign that likes coziness and togetherness. therein lies the dilemma- part of her wants connection and commitment and another part wants freedom and space. add in venus/chiron and there can be deep wounds around this to navigate- as well as wounding around self worth and self Love. people comment about how she is the most beautiful woman in the world (in my opinion beauty is subjective)- but it does not matter how someone looks to everyone else. it matters how they look to themselves and how they value and Love themselves. and how they do or do not do that will trickle over into relationship dynamics- attracting people who cannot honor and respect them if they don’t honor and respect themselves.
this aspect is up big time for angelina. transiting uranus is about to cojoin her chiron, oppose her uranus and square her venus/ascendant. but even more importantly her progressed chiron is at 28’02 aries and it is almost exactly square her natal venus at 28’09 (progressed chiron moves slowly so this will be exact in 2028). this natal aspect has progressively gotten tighter and more exact over her life and it is coming to a head right now.
she also has the sun opposite neptune- which can be dreamy, romantic and idealistic but also ungrounded, illusory and confused on what is real and what is fantasy. with the sun representing the masculine- sun/neptune is the way her internal masculine shows up. artistic, creative, spiritual even- but also perhaps deceptive, not completely above board, dishonest and slippery behind the scenes. the saturn/neptune square is triggering this right now- with saturn on her neptune right now and approaching her sun soon. transiting neptune square neptune has been happening all year and next year it squares her sun.
another big transit involves her jupiter/saturn square which is being massively triggered by pluto right now- with pluto opposite saturn (ruler of 7th house) and square jupiter. big stuff can get unearthed about Truth and what she believes in and where has she been seeing what she wants to see rather than seeing what is.
the other very significant progression she has- and get this brad has it too- is that they both have their progressed suns just past exact conjunction with their progressed saturns. in the last 3-6 months they both have experienced this aspect exact but it’s been building for a year or two previous to that. this can bring up big time karmic endings, pruning, doors closing, chapters closing. it’s a heavy energy and it’s fascinating that they both have it going on at the exact same time.
now onto brad’s chart…brad is sagittarius rising and he currently has the saturn/neptune square triggering his ascendant/descendant axis. he is born with chiron square ascendant which brings wounding and healing into the arena of relationships. the positive side of this could channel as being a healer and helping others but the shadow side can express as integrity issues, lack of self or other honesty and wounding around identity running one’s choices in life and in relationships. neptune is currently conjunct his chiron and square his ascendant/descendent which can bring nebulous, confusing or illusory energies into his life but could also exacerbate any tendencies to self/other deception, hiding things or being out of integrity.
brad’s sun is at 26 sadge- and it’s completely unaspected in his chart. it’s stands alone which can make his sun strong but it can also speak to identity or sense of self issues- and at times over focusing on relationships as a means to feel good about the self. he is about to have chiron square his sun, uranus trine his sun and saturn conjunction his sun. big time lessons and old wounds or karmic patterns brought to Light but also the potential for deep healing and radical change if he chooses to walk that path.
his mercury is at 16’07 capricorn and pluto has been on it all year long. this can bring power struggles in communication and with mercury as ruler of his 7th house- power/control dynamics and breakdowns of communication in relationship are possible. he also has moon conjunct venus in capricorn (22-24) and uranus is squaring both- bringing upheaval in relationships with women but also his own internal feminine (his anima) and sudden changes in established structures in his life.
brad’s progressed moon just moved into capricorn in the last couple of weeks- and in the next 9-10 months it will cojoin his mars and south node conjunction- which can exacerbate feisty energies and perhaps be part of an intense divorce process. mars on the karmic south node is very- um karmic (lol). there’s big stuff up around right use of will, desire, sexuality, power and control. i would be curious to know what was going on in brad’s personal/inner life from 2013-2014 as that is when pluto was conjunct his mars and karmic south node and likely a lot of stuff came up at that time. interestingly his mars/south node is square to angelina’s moon/mars conjunction- so she was getting pluto square her moon/mars while he was getting pluto on his mars/south node. having mars square mars is a fiery combination in synastry- great for sex but not so great for harmony, peace and collaboration. add transiting pluto into the mix and it likely was intense and explosive around that time for them.
synastry is the art of looking at two charts and seeing the connections they make. the tightest aspect between two charts can be the biggest clue to the purpose and nature of the relationship. the tightest aspects they have are his ceres (the Great Mother asteroid) on her north node exact to the minute and his north node sextile her ceres 0’02 minutes from being exact. a huge purpose of their relationship was to have a family and also to channel Great Mother energy into the humanitarian work they did together. yet the next tightests aspects are all tense- chiron and uranus square neptune, pluto semisequare ascendant, uranus square sun, uranus quincunx mars and mars square mars. they do have some nice stuff- like jupiter trine neptune, juno trine saturn and neptune trine saturn. but all that uranus and mars brings instability and excitement as well as great passion but also potential for anger, conflicts and intensity.
looking at venus- all the aspects from both of their venus’ to the other’s planets are tense. tense aspects will instigate growth but they can also be hard to maintain over time. there is also a lot of chiron between them- with the Wounded Healer activating personal planets on both ends which could exacerbate old unresolved wounds and pain from childhood or even past lives. intense chiron in synastry needs to be supported with really good shadow work and couple’s therapy- otherwise you will just trigger the crap out of each other to no end.
their composite chart has a lot to say as well. libra rising but with uranus on the ascendant- this is about evolution, growth and excitement- but not necessarily about stability and longevity. the sun is in pisces on the karmic south node and chiron the wounded healer has been activating both of them all of 2015 and all of this year as well- carrying over into january 2017. chiron transits are a doozy and can be hard to navigate without the proper support and more importantly without both people on board with doing the work that is being called of them to do as chiron tends to excavate BIG wounds and pain and most people prefer to stuff/deny or react/act out rather than sit with what arises and move into and through it.
the moon in the composite chart is 2’57 pisces and next to the sun in pisces this makes their composite moon a balsamic moon. the last part of the moon cycle is karmic and it’s about endings and completion. just seeing this right off the bat would make me feel this relationship is about completing karma with each other. the moon is conjunct mars- which mirrors angelina’s moon/mars conjunction- which can be fiery, feisty, argumentative and reactive. and with mercury in aries conjunct chiron and opposite uranus- the path to honest, healing communication takes a lot of work. the moon is also square neptune- exacerbating the tendency to see what one wants to see and not be completely above board or honest- with themselves or each other. tense neptune aspects are uber romantic in the beginning but later on as the Lights go on and/or both people step off the pedestal- there can be big time reality checks that need to play out. (i actually advise people under the influence of intense neptune transits to NOT make relationship decisions as there’s much illusion/confusion going on at the time)
venus in libra is opposite saturn and transiting uranus is about to hit both in the next couple years- which can be seen as a separation aspect. and last but not least mars in aquarius is square neptune- which is really not good for honesty and clear, directed action with each other. mars/neptune can be great for creativity (and acting) but it can make one’s actions nebulous and even perhaps deceptive. transiting saturn triggered this fall of 2014 and the recent mars retrograde triggered it as well- from february to july of this year. i feel that that period of time was HUGE for them as they were navigating intense territory- trying to discern Truth from lies, fact from fiction, fantasy from reality.
and last but not least we have the wedding chart. i don’t have a time for it- only a date- and i remember when i saw the wedding chart i wondered who elected it!? (or maybe they did not consult an astrologer). yes there is a lovely moon/venus/jupiter conjunction- but all three of them are quincunx neptune/chiron, quincunx pluto and square to mars conjunct saturn. that is some heavy energy there- and the solar/royal/leo energy has a lot going on behind the scenes that is not necessarily seen right up front. uranus is also on the karmic south node- for me an image of this relationship being about releasing karmic patterns and connections. with mars/saturn quincunx uranus- there’s intense push/pull energy between anger in and anger out. how to deal with anger in healthy masterful ways is the lesson and it’s not easy when uranus on the south node is inciting rebellion! (a great read on this is ‘the anatomy and evolution of anger’ by robert masters)
as you can see there’s a lot going on in these charts- and even more going on behind the scenes than we even know about. in the news they are saying angelina found out he was cheating by hiring a private investigator. i also saw an article that said brad had angry outburst with the kids and she is leaving him for the health of the family. perhaps these are true, perhaps not? who knows? i do know based on how they began and the aspects they have with each other, transits they have going on as well as progressions- there is a big confluence of energies where reality is being faced and all that is not true or right is being asked to fall away. i am assuming that since a public statement was made by angelina that this is their final decision- and with mutual progressed sun/saturn aspects that makes sense.
i just hope for the sake of their children that they are able to find a good path forward as they navigate divorce and custody. and i hope they both are seeing a great shadow work therapists (i recommend robert masters!) who can help them navigate the minefield of intense emotions, pain, wounding, anger and rage that is no doubt present for them both right now. and may they both do the work to fully complete with each other and learn the lessons they need to learn during this period of ending- so they don’t drag old toxic karma into new relationships in the future and just keep on repeating the same old karmic patterns ad nausea.

p.s. a few things to add as i looked at when they met. brad had transiting neptune square his juno/neptune and chiron on his moon/venus. very intense transits to be meeting someone new under! the meeting chart and the major transits you have going on can give you HUGE insight into the purpose of the connection. as for angelina- when she met brad she was having her saturn return which rules her 7th. this makes for significant destined relationships incoming. she also had a ton of pluto- with her mercury and saturn and uranus tensely aspecting her pluto. it seems this relationship was neptune/chiron for brad- idealistic, illusory, wounding and healing- and it was saturn/pluto for angelina- grounding, karmic, intense and transformative (by way of intensity).
